Torrison Stone & Garden Wins Blue Ribbon Business Award

DURHAM — The town’s economic development commission has announced the first recipient of the Blue Ribbon Business Award for the first quarter of 2019.

This honor was created to show our appreciation and support for our local businesses. Torrison Stone & Garden received over 20 nominations for the award, based on excellence in customer service, outstanding products, and contributions to the community, according to a press release.

Nominations are based on any or all of these criteria, and Torrison Stone & Garden met them all.

The Blue Ribbon and Certificate of Recognition was presented to owner, Tyler Gerry, in the showroom at 422 Main St., by First Selectman Laura L. Francis and Durham Economic Development Chairwoman Janet F. Morganti.

Nominees had much to say, including “Torrison is a wonderful business to have in town. They have great employees, have a great store front and do business all over Connecticut. They are always willing to help make Durham beautiful — and donate time and services” and “… Torrison Stone & Garden has offered free yard clean-ups to local veterans; and participation in The Relay for Life Cancer event is something that Tyler and Torrison Stone have passionately supported over the years,” the news release said.
