“Despite snow, wind, sleet and messy roads, the Wallingford Garden Club members celebrated Soup Month at their February meeting. Homemade soups and wonderful bakery bread were the perfect match for that winter day. Members also baked a big variety of desserts. After lunch and a short business meeting, Colleen Kinyon was the guest speaker and what an informative and delightful speaker she was.
Her topic was “Improve the Curb Appeal of you Home”. Starting with a power point presentation and a myriad of examples of what to do and what not to do in your yard, she entertained us with what she does at Torrison Stone & Garden in Durham where she works and why she loves gardening and landscape design. One of her key points was to look out your windows to determine where you need to improve your yard views. Following her presentation, Colleen raffled off an enormous, gorgeous planter and Betty Wilson was the lucky winner.
Colleen also gave away several other smaller plants and seed packets which surprised us all. And to top it off, the Hershey kisses she provided brought smiles to all.”
